The CD presents award winning translations by Adrian G. Sahlean of Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu (1850-1889) who is considered Europe's last great romantic poet and often described as the essence of the Romanian soul. The tracks feature noted American Repertory Theatre actor Jeremy Geidt as narrator, with music accompaniment by acclaimed Romanian concert pianist Horia Mihail. Through the years, A.G.Sahlean's meter-and-rhyme translations have inspired various contemporary American artists while the rendition of Eminescu's masterpiece “The Legend of the Evening Star’ (included on the CD) was recently performed Off-Broadway as an experimental dance-and-theatre production.
