Donnelly Carter Payne is Billy Cerveny's third full length release. A double record, it is the story of a Georgia born, Civil War era plantation and slave owner (Donnelly Carter Payne) who loses everything to General Sherman and his March to the Sea. Caught between the brutality of war, self-interest and grace, Donnelly sets out to find revenge, but ends up facing his own pride as he encounters mercy in the most unlikely places.
Donnelly Carter Payne is about coming to the end of ourselves. It is about how grace is free, but living a life in response to grace costs everything.
"I am more excited about this project than any I’ve done to date, " says Cerveny. "I'm very proud of this story and all 20 songs that go into telling it. It took a long time to birth this record, but I couldn't be happier with it."
Produced by Mike Odmark (Nashville, TN), Donnelly Carter Payne is Americana's answer to the concept album and Cerveny's finest work to date. |
