About This:
Sir Ian is the solo-project of Bart Hoevenaars. Former singer/guitarist in indie-rockgroup Mono. After deciding to dismantle Mono he spent a good two years striking up new musical friendships by joining Fuck The Writer and searching for a more personal approach to songwriting. Sir Ian’s songs are confessional and introspective on the one side and melodic, harmonic and orchestrated on the other. The rock background is still present throughout debut album Apathology, on which all the instruments are played by Sir Ian himself (with a few guest-appearances), but the focus in the songs is on the lyrics and melodies and harmonies. The heartfelt vocals and the acoustic guitar are always at the heart of the composition. After some acoustic performances on Oerol festival 2008 and National Radio, solo and with the aid of brother and former Mono guitar player Jos Hoevenaars (now bassplayer in The New Earth Group) a band was formed with Jos, Micha Haring (Elle Bandita) on drums and Youri Seidler (Neon Rainbows) on bass. This gives Sir Ian live a bigger more rock-based sound possibility next to the acoustic setting.
