Lumina President, Mia Fox: “Technology and the Internet allows the band to be totally focused on the ART of creating music. Each song will be released on the Internet individually with the final song scheduled for October 2008.
The first single, A WARNIN, is available now. It’s sure to have you singing along and dancing!
Songwriter/Singer/Producer/Saxophonist, Stev Fair: “Our fans have waited too long for this CD, but we wanted to take our time and get it right. I think the time is right for a song like this. Only time will tell. All I know is that I’m having a ball writing and producing this music. I get to play alongside my boyhood buddy, pianist and composer, Pete Martinez, Multi-Talented Musician Spence Beamon and Grammy-nominated percussionist and master artist, Jerry LeDuff, among other studio musicians who I just love.”
Musicians contributing to this project include:
·Spence Beamon-Bass & Guitar
·Maureen Honore-Vocals, Arrangements
·Tom Rice-Drummer & Engineer
·Mahogany Brown-Rap
·Jerry LeDuff- Congas & Percussion
·Stev Fair Vocals & Soprano Sax
·Pete Martinez-Keyboards, Arrangements
Fair’s songwriting is geared around rich and full melodies. His compositions do not hide the message behind ear-pleasing sounds that do nothing for the mind and heart.
Fair formed his first R&B band with Martinez at 14 years old, and was educated as a classical saxophonist. While attending Wayne State University in Detroit, he would head down to the legendary “RAPPA HOUSE” near the old Motown headquarters to sit in with R&B and Jazz greats like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Bill Withers, and Gil-Scott Heron. The experience from these was useful and insightful, with musicians generously sharing advice and friendship.
Stev Fair: “Music brings people together, and that is why I LOVE it. I think I write as a social critic at times, because of the messages I picked up from artists who really had something to say about everyday life. To take that message and make it sound beautiful is indeed the challenge that keeps me going. Music serves as the most universal form of communicating. What better way to make a difference to such a large and diverse group of people.”
Composer/Pianist, Pete Martinez is the music director of the band. A musical prodigy, he has played with some of the world ‘s top musicians like Bob James and Alex Zonjic.
Pete Martinez: “composing is a deliberate but natural process that begins with a melody. Stev and I work so well together because we’ve been playing together for a long time. Both of us enjoy the mystery and powerful feeling that comes from making a great song. We enjoy creating and playing music and sharing our music with others.”
