About This:
BALBOA: PRIVATE EYE (tv pilot for French Television)(1979)
"Balboa" grew out of Ron Scalise and I laughing about how funny it would be to film a take-off of "Barnaby Jones" (who I used to call "the slowest private investigator in the Northern Hemisphere"). There would be this private eye, from France, but he couldn't really speak French and he would keep getting confused about his missions and end up going to golf courses and shopping malls and arresting the wrong people, etc. Yet he would remain very philosophical and French. The super-8 footage of this project is languishing somewhere, but no one can find it! Meanwhile, here's the music to it. Besides my bad cool-jazz recorder playing and fake French singing, that's Tom Majesky on ultra-suave guitar.
The Balboa band for the theme is: me - piano, Hammond B3, vocals; William Bromstedt - turkey holler; Tom Majesky - guitar; Dave Stoltz - bass; Rob Gottfried - drums.
