About This:
"ROAD TO FREEDOM"(MCA 1992), Grayson Hugh's second major label album, received international critical acclaim. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Leonard Pitts, Jr. said: "Have I heard any newcomer in the last decade who excites me more than this guy? No." Billboard Magazine called it one of 1992's top ten albums. Director Ridley Scott heard an advance pressing and requested the use of two of Hugh's songs for his hit film "Thelma & Louise". For the film "Fried Green Tomatoes", Grayson was asked to arrange and record a Bob Dylan song "I'll Remember You" to be featured during the closing credits. One writer called this performance "a gospel assault that could raise the dead". Instrumentally, "Road To Freedom" featured more of Hugh's unique Hammond B3 playing in addition to his piano playing. Grayson also added to this record a dose of country and rock elements, such as mandolin, baritone and twelve string guitar.
