About This:
Part soul man, part folk singer, Tom Prasada-Rao can’t seem to help himself on “Out of the Blue,” yet he’s found a way to make both fit. – The Washington Post Recorded in 2001 and released in 2003, Out of the Blue is that album you almost didn’t get to hear. When TPR got on a plane a month after 9/11 he was detained by the FBI, questioned and released, but released without the audio masters to this disc. What you’ll hear are the rough mixes to some incredible songs written with a virtual who’s who of singer-songwriters: David Wilcox, Pierce Pettis, Tom Kimmel, Buddy Mondlock, Lorin Rowan, Nancy Moran, Don Conoscenti, and Michael McNevin. Tom’s most sonically ambitious project to date: lush arrangements punctuated by loops, African Ngony & Djembe, and Indian Dotar & Tabla. Two standout tracks are the gorgeous “I Begin to See Your Face” and the sublime “When Angels Sing.” Also included is the hymnlike “See Myself in You.” which was covered by Randy Travis on his album Inspirational Journey. Look for impressive guest spots by Clive Gregson, Brooks Williams, Chris Rosser, Cheik Hamala Djiabate, Broto Roy, and Ruthie Foster
