Ernest Goldberg was a practicing Electrical Engineer for more than forty years
before he retired in the early 90's. He holds a BEE Degree from The Cooper Union
in New York City and a Masters Degree from the University of Massachusetts,Amherst. He enjoyed working for three employers:
* Gilfillan Brothers, Los Angeles (Ground Controlled Approach Radar).
* Princeton University, Plasma Physics Laboratory (Thermonuclear Fusion).
* Raytheon Company, Bedford, MA. (Missile System Division).
During this period, Mr. Goldberg applied much of his spare time to his hobby of collecting, reviewing, revising and telling humorous stories.
Upon reading Norman Cousins' "Anatomy of an Illness", in which Cousins relates
his remarkable recovery from a usually fatal disease by viewing old comedy films and having humorous stories read to him, Mr. Goldberg quickly grasped Cousins' message, that humor and laughter can have a powerful positive influence
on our natural self-healing processes.
However, it wasn't until his life-long friend, Dr. Seymour Hayden, professor of mathematics and harpsichord prodigy ignited the spark, by recording his brilliant interpretation of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. That magnificent performance inspired Ernest Goldberg to dream of recording some of his own humorous stories along with excerpts from Seymour Hayden's rendition of the Goldberg Variations playing softly in the background. That long-harbored dream has now been fulfilled.
