Hey everyone welcome to the site. It all started on a farm back in Alpena Mi. Mom taught me and my sister to sing at a very young age standing at a piano in our basement. Eventually that lead us to our very first gigs in church. As the years passed I began writing my own music around the age of fourteen. I started a punk band "Gerry's Kids" which took off instantly on a local level. After years of musical adventure and the roots of my family music to this day the music in what you will hear created by Keith Lewis consist of Influences including Johnny Cash,The sex pstols,Van Morrison,Paul Simon.Willie Nelson,Hank Williams, Hank Williams III,Green Day,Marvin Gaye,Kelly Joe Phelps,CCR,Bob Marley,Bob Dylan,Merle Haggard,My Grandpa "George Lewis",Sublime, Victor Wooten, and the list goes on.
After packing a Chevy Cavalier with nothing but a few changes of clothes an accoustic guitar and $500 in my pocket I set east for New England. Taking awhile to get established I played open mics anywhere I could get in cause I was only 19 at the time. A year later give or take a month, again at an open mic,I ran into the manager of a very popular rock band at the time and was asked to open for them the following Saturday. Saturday quickly arrived and my opening act was quickly underway. When the last word had been sung and the last string plucked a Dj by the name of David J walked onto the stage and Announced my first live debut on a triple aaa radio station 92.5TheRiver. Scheduled for the following Sunday. After my performance on the radio I imediatley went to Mixed Emotions recording studio to track backing vocals for the band I opened for Coppertree. After tracking a one take demo of My original material was presented to the engineers and owners of the studio. Mixed Emotions agreed to a production recording deal.
Finding the Band
With a exstensive list of Studio musicians we set out to build the band. First things first...Drums! First words out of Ken Lewis (no relation) He brought up the name "Russ Lawton" I said look no farther! Russ has an amazing portfolio of accomplishments in the music buisness and not to mention is a human metronome with all the style you could ask for. From there we built a band of top shelf musicians including Ken Clark, John Lecesse, and Justin Slusher.
After a long break(4 yrs.) it was time to put the shift into gear again. Our second album Exhausted Alibi came together in a ubelievabley easy and quick pace. Adding new musicians. Kevin Levesque and Sean Corcoran on bass, and Nate Wilson (percy Hill, AOD, Nate Wilson Group) to the roster on most performances. Curently working the Casinow and clubs around the country.
