Misha Williams is a diverse singer/songwriter from Houston, Texas and is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. The performances on her debut album “Take It Like It Is” have been compared with the stylings of Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff, and her most recent songs stem from influences ranging from Jeff Buckley and Radiohead to Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum.
Misha gained a wealth of live performance experience beginning at the age of 10 and began performing around 50 dates a year by the time she started high school. She has shared the stage with all manners of artists, including opening for country artist Lee Ann Womack and performing as a supporting act for the UK pop group Girls Aloud.
After working on her first full-length album with a London producer and collaborating with a Danish songwriting duo, Misha released her self-penned album “Take It Like It Is” in the UK during March 2007, publicizing her first single “She’s Got It” by performing live on nearly 100 radio stations throughout the region.
Attracting the ear of the Japanese record label Avex Group, Misha’s second single, “Unexpectedly,” was featured as the theme song for the Japanese motion picture “Strings,” released in theaters on April 28, 2007. Following the movie release, Misha’s album sold over 25,000 units in Japan alone.
Immediately after returning from her third weeklong promo trip to Japan, Misha accompanied Girls Aloud as a supporting act on their 15-date Greatest Hits UK Arena Tour in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland from May 15 – June 2, 2007, which included a performance at London’s legendary Wembley Arena. After returning to the US, Misha performed on the 11 date Camplified Tour in the Northeast US during August 2009.
Misha received an Associate’s Degree in Audio Recording Technologies in December of 2008 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Songwriting with a minor in Music Business from Belmont University in December of 2010.
She is currently working in music publishing with top Nashville song catalogs at TKO Artist Management and is preparing to go into the studio to record 2 new EP 6 packs that will showcase her diverse songwriting styles.
Many of Misha’s original songs have been recognized in major songwriting competitions in the US, including the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Billboard World Song Contest.
