Shawn was born and raised in southern California and followed the music to Boston in 1998, where he completed a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music at Berklee College.
While at school, he studied everything that would give him a well-rounded foundation in all facets of being a professional musician: from songwriting to entrepreneurship, performance to production. He began as a hand-percussion principle, studying a variety of ethnic styles, and switched to voice when he developed tendinitis. In singing, he found his true strength as a musician.
He also twice produced a live performance of The Beatles' "Abbey Road" in its entirety, and was the student commencement speaker at his graduation ceremony in May 2002.
Since then, he has been performing semi-professionally, cutting his performing and songwriting teeth on Boston's subway platforms and open mic stages, as well as performing impromptu for friends at social gatherings. In April 2005 he released a 5-song EP entitled "5 Songs in April", recorded at Big Block Studios in Fall River, Massachusetts.
In November 2006, after being laid off from the last in a series of management positions that he performed well but which left his passion for performing unquenched, he formally announced his intention to capitalize on his Professional Music degree by producing a series of Living Room Concerts at his home in Belmont, Massachusetts.
The series was a raving success, with as many as 18 people squeezed in to the small living room of the apartment he shares with his fiancee Jennifer; each evening was unique, and presented an opportunity for friends to witness the blossoming of the music. It was as much of a thrill for Shawn as it was for his friends, who were now his fans.
Shawn hooked up with Ed and Joe Basile of Solstice Studios in Stoughton, Massachusetts, who sponsored the recording of Shawn's new CD, "Waves," due to be released in late Spring 2007.
There are two more songs to complete and plans for at least one more to make a full-length album, which will be released in September, right before Shawn embarks on the "Rock Star Parking Tour 2007", which will be the first of many, many, many musical journeys...
