Soul Whyte has released his second single from his album Locker 149: "All I Wanna Do" feat Jing, which is getting great airplay. It is charting at 370 on the top 500 chart! The song is being added to most stations straight to medium rotation on Top 40 radio.
The first single "Suga Suga" was featured and added to playlists across Canada in 2008 on Top 40 radio stations.
He was recently selected through Sonic Bids to work with LALAMusic, a music licensing, management/booking agency from Los Angeles and with Jingle Punks Music, a placement agency.
After being selected as Runner-up in 91.7 the Bounce Radio Showdown 2007, Soul Whyte began work on his first album. His professional demo was taken to Popkomm in Germany. Over the past year, he has recorded Locker 149, produced by Jing Joints in Edmonton. It was mastered and manufactured in Toronto, and the album and downloads are being distributed on-line.
Soul Whyte has just had his own successful headliner at the Shell Theatre on November 30, 2008 in Fort Saskatchewan. With special guests Darkson Tribe, K-Riz and 3rd Street Beat, along with DJ Creeasian, the concert had a club feel and the audience responded to the high energy performances. Soul Whyte received an encore from the scores of fans who got to their feet, danced and sang along to the tunes from his album. The venue was treated to Urban goes SubUrban!! After the concert on November 30, 2008, Soul Whyte was notified he was selected to perform for the Toronto Independent Music Awards - Best Live 2009 in July 2009, date to be determined.
Soul Whyte will be the special guest for Juno Nominated Souljah Fyah, Concert set for October 30, 2009.
Soul Whyte has performed at Big Valley, Rainmaker Rodeo, Youth Emergency Shelter, Homeless for a Night fundraiser, Winter Games NWT, HMV Stage West Edmonton Mall, and various stages around Edmonton. He has been featured on City TV, Breakfast TV, CBC North and YTV.
Soul Whyte is a member of Socan, Urban Music Association of Canada, Alberta Music and Songwriters of Canada. At the WCMAs, held in Edmonton, he attended Career Day and was privileged to have had a face to face meeting with Jerry Heller, Ruthless Records and Will Strickland, Urban Music Association of Canada- President.
Over the past 2 years, he has met and been encouraged by other recording artists in the urban genre: Akon, Ne-Yo, Omarian, Marques Houston, George, Cory Lee and Kreesha Turner.
